In 2010 the world rowing Champs were held at Lake Karipiro in Cambridge. To accommodate the large audience a 10,008 temporary seating stand was constructed. This was the largest covered temporary stand constructed in NZ at the time. This posed challenges relating to designing the means of escape whilst allowing for the roof that covered 50% of the seating area and maintaining the ability for the spectators to still see the entire rowing course. We were proud to have been involved with Chibnall Swann Architects in the fire safety design for the award winning Community Events Centre and Finish tower with both featuring prominently throughout the World Rowing Champs.
