BCD Group are excited to announce the appointment of four new leadership roles within the company. We are pleased to announce Morna Nielsen as our new Tauranga Office Manager, Callum Davison as the Civil Engineering Team Leader, Kirsty Moran as the Planning Team Leader and Mike Trigger as the Geotechnical Engineering Manager. These new roles will continue to lead the growth of BCD Group and play instrumental roles in both setting and achieving future goals within their teams.

Morna Nielsen is a talented structural engineer who began at BCD Group as a graduate engineer in 2013 in our Hamilton Office, while also representing New Zealand in cricket. As her professional sports career wound down and the number of projects in the Bay of Plenty region continued to increase for BCD Group, Morna sought the opportunity to transfer to our Tauranga Office, taking on lead structural engineering and project management roles in various projects.

Some major projects Morna has played a key role in include the Excelsa Retail Centre in Papamoa, the new retail facility at 113 Maunganui Road and a large scale OPAC kiwifruit cool store in Opotiki.

Morna’s vision for the Tauranga Office team is to continue being a dynamic team with the aim of being the preferred provider engineering and planning services in the Bay of Plenty region.

Our previous Tauranga Office Manager, Graeme Hickey, has now moved into a business development role, covering the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. Headed by Jonathan Brown, our business development team ensure our present clients are well looked after as well as seeking out new opportunities for BCD Group.

Callum Davison began his journey at BCD Group as a Junior Geotechnical Engineer in 2015. He then sought to expand his geology based tertiary background by completing a Bachelor of Engineer Technology with Distinction in Civil Engineering. This unique crossover has allowed Callum to provide consultancy services to a broad range of projects including the University of Waikato Outdoor Courts, Podium Lodge and Lakewood Cambridge.

Through hard work and dedication Callum has grown in to the role of Civil Engineering Team Leader and has taken any new challenge in his stride.

As the team lead, Callum hopes to expand the civil team’s project experience by tackling large scale subdivisions, land development and roading projects while still maintaining their high standard of service in all projects, no matter what the scale.

Kirsty Moran started at BCD Group in 2012 as a Planner. Since then the Planning department has more than tripled in size creating a need for a strong and knowledgeable team leader. Since returning from maternity leave in 2018, Kirsty developed into the Team Leader role through a combination of hard work, meticulous organisation and a positive and approachable attitude.

Throughout her time at BCD Group, Kirsty has played a key role in the success of many planning projects including the Rocket Lab Testing Facility in Mercer, Housing NZ projects within the Waikato, a number of childcare facilities, large scale apartment and mixed-use developments within Hamilton City as well as several secondment roles with WEL Networks and Waikato District Council.

As both the team lead and a long-time member of the planning team Kirsty is excited to continue providing quality planning advice and delivering results for BCD clients whilst growing and nurturing her talented team of planners.

Mike Trigger joined BCD Group as our Geotechnical Engineering Manager in late-2018, bringing a wealth of 18 years’ experience and expertise to the geotechnical team. Mike is also a Chartered Professional Engineer with “geotechnical” as his practice area.

He has been responsible for the ground engineering of various development and infrastructure projects serving both the public and private sectors. His projects include residential buildings, large buildings, bridges, buried structures, embankment/cut slope design, retaining walls, slip repairs, earthworks and council advisory.

Mike’s focus is clarity in geotechnical deliverables so that project teams can make informed decisions based on a level of analysis appropriate to the project. Mike wants BCD to be recognised as the leading provider of geotechnical services in Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki regions.
